Choose the right DSP amplifier.
A DSP amplifier combines signal processing and powered channels, but models that look similar can support very different systems. Count inputs, amplified channels and processed outputs before comparing wattage or price.
Write down every channel.
| Specification | Why it matters | Question to answer |
|---|---|---|
| Input channels | Determines how much of the factory or aftermarket source signal can be captured and summed. | How many source channels carry unique information? |
| Amplified outputs | Determines how many speakers can be powered directly by the unit. | Which drivers need their own powered channel? |
| Processed line outputs | Allows external amplifiers or subwoofer channels to share the DSP tuning platform. | Will the system expand beyond the built-in power? |
| RMS power and impedance | Controls the real output available to each connected load. | What power is delivered at the impedance actually used? |
Input capability matters more than a logo.
Check speaker-level input range, signal summing, automatic turn-on, load-detection needs and whether the factory system uses equalisation or all-pass filters. Vehicle-specific harnesses can simplify connection but do not replace compatibility checks.
Leave outputs for the system you intend to build.
If a mono subwoofer amplifier or additional speaker channels will be added later, confirm the DSP amplifier has the required processed outputs and routing. Buying only for today’s channel count can force a processor replacement later.
Choose the channel layout you need.
HELIX AMPLIFY 206 DSP
6 amplified channels; 8 DSP channels. A compact six-channel starting point with two processed line outputs for external amplification. Count the channels needed for front speakers, rear speakers and bass before choosing.
Audison AF C8.14 bit
8 amplified channels; 14 DSP channels. An eight-channel Forza platform with six processed line outputs. Useful where the system needs more independently powered channels and room for external amplifiers. Rated at 65 W per channel at 4 ohms, or 100 W at 2 ohms, under the manufacturer’s stated test conditions.
HELIX NEXT V EIGHT DSP ULTIMATE
8 amplified channels; 14 DSP channels. A higher-output HELIX platform for more demanding multi-channel systems, with six processed line outputs and USB PerfectStream. Check exact load and channel requirements on its product page.
These are not interchangeable vehicle kits. Speaker impedance, channel allocation, factory signals, mounting space, wiring and tuning still need to match your system. The linked product pages carry current prices and the stock-check option.
Already have amplifiers? A standalone processor such as the HELIX DSP ULTRA S is a different architecture: it processes the signal but does not power speakers. Budget for suitable external amplification. It is not a like-for-like substitute for the DSP amplifiers above.
DSP setup requires learning, measurement and careful configuration. A knowledgeable installation or tuning specialist is recommended. Our DSP Learning Centre helps you understand the platform; an online product purchase does not include unlimited remote tuning.

Common DSP-amplifier questions
Is a DSP amplifier better than separate components?
It is more compact and can simplify wiring. Separate processors and amplifiers can offer more power, channel flexibility or expansion. The better choice is the one that fits the complete system architecture.
Can one DSP-amplifier channel power two speakers?
Only when the resulting impedance, power distribution and tuning arrangement are supported by the amplifier and appropriate for the speakers. Independent channels provide more control.
Does a DSP amplifier tune itself?
No. Some products provide setup assistance, but crossover, equalisation, delay, level and signal routing still need to be configured for the actual vehicle and system.
